Principal standards for laser and LED classification

Standard DIN EN 60825-1 "Safety of laser products - Part 1: Equipment classification and requirements" applies to all laser sources.

LEDs used for lighting purposes can be evaluated according to DIN EN 62471 "Photobiological safety of lamps and lamp systems". This standard also includes hazards by non-visible spectral components as well as hazards by other radiation sources used for lighting.
